2009....he we go!!!

With the end of 2008 behind us, tallies are still coming in about last year’s touring season. Pollstar released it’s figures yesterday and Kenny’s 2008 Poets & Pirates Tour was the # 1 attended tour in any genre and the # 4 overall tour, with the lowest aggregate ticket price on the list. Kenny says “It’s not about the money, it’s about the fans.

It’s been confirmed - Carrie Underwood’s new single will be “I Told You So.” The song was written and originally recorded by Randy Travis and it reached # 1 back in 1988. Carrie’s version will officially be released to radio on 2/2.

Carrie will also be making a special appearance on Wednesday evening’s People’s Choice Awards. Already confirmed for the show are Jewel and Rascal Flatts—along with the evening’s host Queen Latifah when the show airs live on CBS at 8 PM, Eastern.

Taylor Swift will be the musical guest on the next episode of Saturday Night Live. Taylor joins host Neil Patrick Harris for the first new episode of the hit comedy show in 2009.

McCready Attempts Suicide and Not Our Josh Turner

Some people might be a little mixed up bt the mispronouniation by a CNN reporter. Joshua Turnidge, not our perfect Country Boy Josh Turner was annouced as a second suspect in an Oregon Bank bombing. So, let the air be cleared!

Mindy McCready has spent 30 days in jail for violating probation on a 2004 drug charge, she entered rehab in July for a nervous breakbown, and she confirmed she had a longterm affair with Yankee star Roger Clemens. Now, she was hospitalized yesterday morning following an apparent suicide attempt by slashing her wrists. Apparently she called the mother of her roommate and said some things that caused the mother concern. The mother called authorities who responded with paramedics and took her to a local hospital.

Kenny Chesney has his own brand of rum in the works, and now we know what the name of that rum will be! Expected out in early 2010, the rum will be called “Vacation In A Bottle.” It’s a pretty fitting title considering that Kenny’s shows are a one-day vacation for over a million fans every summer!

Tim McGraw will not run for governor of Tennessee in 2010, according to a spokesman. Tim was listed as a potential candidate by The New Republic magazine earlier this month although Tim himself never publicly stated that he would enter the race. Tim’s rep told People magazine There's no truth to this, It's something he is interested in.... but not for 2010."

In Texas Music News, Blue Edmondson is working on his Live from Billy Bob's cd and dvd which will be packaged together as one cd. Look for it in early 2009.

MusicRow Wake-up Call........

Karen sent me her daily subscription of MusicRow this morning and something really hit home. In the May 31 column, the writer described an artist who was so frustrated with delays in the release of her album—among other issues—that she publicly took her label to task via her MySpace blog and really let the fur fly.

I thought it was pretty ridiculous for the artist to be lashing out like that. However, I didn't find it as ridiculous as some record execs did. Here is a quote from a label rep with some advice that changed my thinking a bit.

“There are a few things an artist could do that may make it easier: • Decide who you are as an artist BEFORE you pitch yourself to a label. Don’t change your mind, your hair, your body, your songs, your musical style or your goals halfway through the project and expect everyone to conform to the ‘new you.’ • Don’t complain about a busy schedule, early bus calls, midnight phoners, meet and greets, free shows, small audiences, low spins, no adds, or other things that we have little control to change but must all deal with together. • Don’t bring your dogs, cats, family, boyfriends, girlfriends, parents, grandparents, kids, neighbors, personal problems, etc. to every meeting, radio visit, studio or event. Most label folks show up to work alone. • Don’t arrive consistently late, forget to call, get drunk, and be moody, unprofessional and lazy.”

Therefore:

I am grateful that a message was sent to me today to keep me “in check” as I pursue my career.

Grateful for You!!!!!

"Love and gratitude can part seas, it can move mountains and it can create miracles. The power of love and gratitude will dissolve all negativity in our lives, no matter what form it has taken."

-Rhonda Byrne

To my dear friends,

Thank you so much for taking the time to devote to a daily grateful blog. I love applying the secret in anyway that I can and to be able to share it with friends is quite powerful.

Feel free to add quotes or words of inspiration to your lists to keep us all motivated. And....don't worry if you feel like you are repeating yourself in your grateful list……I am grateful for a lot of things everyday! Like you!

This shouldn’t feel like a chore. Treat it like brushing your teeth! You wouldn’t go 1 day without doing that would you? I truly believe you will start to see a great transformation, not only in your own life, but in all of our lives as friends.
